UCLA Extension is not able to accept Supplemental Job Displacement Vouchers in lieu of payment for course tuition and fees. However, recipients of the Supplemental Job Displacement Benefit have three options available when seeking to use their benefits to enroll with UCLA Extension.
Options
- Option 1 - Students may wish to pay out-of-pocket to enroll in courses with UCLA Extension and then seek reimbursement from their insurance company/claims administrator directly. This option ensures the student is able to enroll in the course(s) of their choice quickly. This is the best option if a student is seeking to enroll within 2 to 4 weeks of the start of the quarter as classes can fill up quickly.
- Option 2 - Some insurance companies/claims administrators may be willing to remit payment to UCLA Extension directly upon request of the student. Our Enrollment Services team can issue a formal Letter of Intent to Enroll which provides course enrollment and fee information which some insurance companies/claims administrators use to initiate payment. In this case, the student will be enrolled upon receipt of payment by UCLA Extension. This option is not advised when a student is seeking to enroll within 2 to 4 weeks of the start of the quarter. To request a Letter of Intent to Enroll, please contact studentrecords@uclaextension.edu.
- Option 3 - Some insurance companies/claims administrators may be willing to submit a purchase order to UCLA Extension for the course tuition and fees to be paid on behalf of students with Supplemental Job Displacement benefits. Information regarding purchase order requirements and use can be found in Payment Options & Instructions.
Individuals qualified to use the supplemental job displacement voucher or claim form are advised by their organization’s human resources, insurance administrator, and/or worker’s compensation division. More information can be found on the State of California Dept. of Industrial Relations' website.
